Sayaka & Duncan • State Room, Boston

Sayaka & Duncan, I’ve been looking forward to working on your photos and finally managed to pull together some of my favorites. :o)

There is so much I could say about your wedding, yet my words would never do you guys justice! For everybody that doesn’t remember Sayaka & Duncan from one of my previous entries, click here and read how we met.

It never actually happened that A) I ran into a couple that got engaged that *same* day (by accident) B) I never ended up asking a couple if I could possibly document their big day (usually it’s the other way around, haha)! :o)) I knew the day I met you, that your wedding will be wonderful! There are not many people that fill a room with their love to each other like you guys do! But enough said, here’s a little sneak peek to your HUGE set! More photos to come (especially from your ceremony & reception), I’m just not quite there yet with my processing … ;o)

Sayaka & Duncan held their ceremony at the Post Office Square Park & continued their festivities at the State Room in downtown Boston.

Can’t restist posting these 2 out-takes:

The cute ring barear: (you should not put me in a room with a baby / toddler these days if you want me to continue shooting, haha … what a CUTIE!)

Some of their gorgeous details at their venue. I love the State Room, it’s such a pretty venue, and boy the viiiewwwww!!

What a beautiful view!!

I couldn’t decide which dance photos to post, you guys got SO many. So here is a little selection :o)

Can you tell yet that they took some Ball Room Dancing classes together? WOW!

Duncan, you owe me a tissue (or two)! I don’t think I’ve ever cried that much during a speech, haha! Luckily I could hide behind my camera, I hope you don’t have any evidence on video ;o))

Words will not describe how much I respect the love you guys have for each other and for the people around you. You are a true inspiration!

Thank you SO much for letting me be part of your very special day, I feel so lucky I ran into you that April 25th!

A special thanks goes also to my 2nd shooter Suzanna

Happy (belated) Father’s Day!

We were out of town last week, so I’m just starting to catch up with things now … Just wanted to share one photo, more posts to come soon :o)

Happy belated Father’s Day to all the daddies out there!

Baby Francesca • 4 months old!

My last baby session was actually a little family session as Nico & Francesca are cousins (their 2 mommies are sisters). I met Francesca a bit over 3 months ago, when she had her newborn photos taken, and boy has she grown in the last couple of weeks! She’s such a cutie, all smiles, a precious little girl!

Here are some of my favorites:

Baby Nico • 3 weeks old!

One of the things I love the most (besides shooting weddings) is getting an email from one of my former brides to schedule a baby session :o) I LOVE seeing my couples start a family, it’s such a special time!!

Meet Nico. Nicole & Mitsou’s precious little boy:

Isn’t he just the cutest little guy?? Love his smile in this one :o)

What a cutie pie!!!I can’t wait to see you guys again in 3 months!!! :o) Big hugs!

Kaitlyn & Michael • Engaged!

Yay! … and an other fun engagement shoot of a really sweet couple whose wedding is coming up veeery shortly!! :o) We started of taking some photos at the Public Garden and ended up at the Esplanade, what a beautiful day & what a wonderful couple! :o)

I love all the bridges at the Esplanade, so pretty! :o)

Meet the gorgeous soon-to-be bride, Kaitlyn:

Loooove this shot:

Check out her eyes, aren’t they just the blues eyes you’ve ever seen??

This one is one of my favorites :o)

Helen & Andrew • Engaged!

Oh what a fun, fun, fun shoot I just had!!! Helen & Andrew, you guys are an awesome couple & sooo easy to pose!! :o) Thought I’d share a few photos from our “urban” shoot, what a diverse set of photos! Enjoy!! :o)

The pics were taken at the Esplanade & Cambridge.

It’s hard to chose a favorite from your HUGE set of photos, haha … but this one is one of *my* favorites:  :o)

Aren’t they a really cute couple?

Love this one :o)

Ha! Since Helen & Andrew are big bikers, I was super happy that we ran into some people that let us grab their tandem for some quick photos :o)

Awwwwww :o)

And here are some photos in front of my new FAVORITE wall :o) I loooove copper :o)

Aren’t they a reallly handsome couple? :o)

Haha!! :o)

Who said engagement shoots can’t be fun(ny)?? How cute is this:

They chose so many fun locations. It was a carousel of colors!

We grabbed a quick little bite at Miracles of Science, what a fun place!!Can you spot spiderman below? :o)

Thank you SO much for choosing all those FUN locations, I had a blast shooting you guys!!

I’ll see you later this October ….. I can’t waiiiitttt!!! :o)

Jessica & Chris • Engaged!

Oh my!!! What a fuuun session. I met Jessica & Chris at Narrangansett Beach (where they got engaged) last Saturday. They scoped the area before we met, and decided to take a couple of photos at a nearby beach first, and boy was that a beautiful spot!! I loooved all the colors, and Jess, your dress was such a wonderful splash of color in all the photos. Just beautiful. I hope you enjoy your little sneak peek :o)

I’ll start off with a photo I saw on an other photographer’s blog just a couple of days ago. I was dying to get this pic ever since I saw it, and just LOVE how it came out, one of my favorite engagement photos EVER!!!

Doesn’t Jess just have the most beautiful smile?? Nahhhhh, goooorgeous, I can’t WAIT to see you in your dress!

What a backdrop!!

Did I mention that it was super foggy that day??

I’ll see you guys later this summer :o)

Alexis & William | Lake View Pavilion

Guess who’s baaaack?? :o) I had a bit of a late start this season (if you’re still waiting for an email from me, I’m sorry …. yup, I’m totally behind with everything at the moment), guess life DOES change when you get a baby :o)

I could have honestly not asked for a better kick-off wedding. Alexis & William celebrated their fun Greek-Irish (huh?) wedding at the beautiful Lake View Pavilion in Foxboro. I’m honestly in LOVE with this venue. L-O-V-E, so pretty! You’ll see why …. and the ceremony was at the beautiful Annunciation Cathedral in Boston, what a gem!

This post has wayyyy too many photos, I’m sorry … I just wasn’t able to choose my favorites … guess there are worse problems to have :o)

Congrats Alexis & William, thanks for letting us share your fun, fun wedding day!!! I love you guys!

What a beautifuuul dress. And you should have seen her veil!! WOW!!

The goorgeous bride:

Do you recognize the pretty lady on the left? Hi Kara :o)

Check our Alexis’ beauutiful flowers. aren’t they pretty? Love the colors, love the flowers you chose and I love the bow. Just beautiful!

Love these:

This must be love … oh wait …

Yup it was raining … of course …. it’s New Eng(RAIN)land weather after all. But we DID end up getting some outdoor shots (phew!), so the photographer was happy.

Love the Annunciation Cathedral!

Thank God for a funny bridal party … makes it soo much easier for us …

… and for a funny groom … :o)

Guess on which side the paparazzis were:

Ok, I have to admit, I have this big issue with “photo rooms” at venues … they’re ugly, let’s face it! BUT I love this one. The photo room at the Lake View Pavilion must be the pretties I’ve ever seen … and if it would have been raining, I would have loved to shoot there … :

By the time we got to the venue we had goorgeous weather & perfect light, PHEW!!

Have I told you how much I love the Lake View Pavilion???? Look at those beautiful drapes, sooooo pretty!

Bill: “Does she make funny faces yet?” …………………….. Maybeeeeeeeeee? :o)

What a handsome couple!!!

Look at them!! Sooo handsome!

Love this one:

They had their own paparazzis!!! You should have seen them in the Cathedral, haha!

There was no doubt that the dance floor would be packed that night. What a fun crowd!! :o)

Hehe …

Drapes, drapes … eeeeverywhere …. soooooo pretty!

Loved the sweetheart table too!

Alexis & William had SUCH a HUGE dessert buffet, that I thought it deserved it’s own little collage. Your life together is going to be SWEET, that’s for sure!

Well, one thing is for sure. Greeks know how to throw a party. They love their music, they know how to dance, and they sure know how to cook / bake delicious foods! But wait … am I spotting a wedding crasher??

I hope you are having a fabulous time in Caboooo :o)

A special thanks to my 2nd shooter: Geneve

Wedding Planner: Full Circle Events

Flowers:  Brattle Square Florist

Our newest family addition :o)

Some of you probably already wondered why I haven’t posted for such a long time … well … we got a little family addition, that kept me busy :o)

Life has definitely changed, our little precious girl brought a lot of joy – and stole some of our sleep, haha – but we couldn’t be happier! :o)

Tomorrow we’ll have our first wedding, and it’s going to be a FUN one (some of the bridesmaids are some of my former brides, yay!) Can’t wait … so stay tuned … there are some wonderful weddings & engagement shoots coming up shortly!! :o)

She was sooooo tiny!!! :o) Our little bundle of joy.

Probably my favorite photo – ever :o)

I love my little girl :o)

Baby Francesca • 3 weeks old!

What a cutie pie! Last week I had the great pleasure meeting lill Francesca for the first time! I love newborns, thought I’d share a couple of pics from our shoot :o) Isn’t she the cutest little munchkin??? :o)

Sleepy little baby:

Awwwww :o)

Nicole & Rafael | Al Cielo, Xpu-Ha Beach, Mexico

I looooove destination weddings :o) This time I was lucky enough to shoot a wedding in Mexico at the beautiful Al Cielo Hotel on Xpu-Ha Beach. Nicole & Rafael escaped (just in time) the East Coast snow storm and celebrated their wedding with friends & family under palm trees. Just gorgeous:

Since the ceremony was close to sunset tim, we took some photos before the “Yes, I do”. Here are some photos of them having the first glimpse at each other:

We took soooo many beautiful photos (how couldn’t one, with such a beautiful couple at this beautiful beach ..), that it was really hard for me to narrow them down to just a couple of favorites, haha!

Hmmmm, one of my favorites of Nicole, so pretty:

Nicole & Rafael had some mariachi singers during the ceremony. Loved their original outfits. :o)

What a setting! Al Cielo is such a pretty place for a wedding & they’re all soo nice there!

Nicole & Rafael decided that the guests should write the vows for them, and they would read them out loud to each other. Some of the guests were especially creative! :o))

I want to get married again! …. is it to early for a vow renewal after only 5 years of marriage? :o)

Hmmmm, and their hors d’oeuvres looked toooooo delicious:

And a pic of Sarah, Tim & cute lill’ Braden (one of my 2007 couples). Hi guys! :o)

Loved the placecards. What a cute idea! :o)

Yup, it was beautiful!

And some pics from their fun party:

Nicole & Rafael, I have no words. Your wedding was simply breathtaking! Thanks so much for having us! I hope you enjoyed this little sneak Peek :o)

A special thanks to the lovely Geneve, who joined me on our little trip :o)

And thanks also to Donaji from Whimsical Weddings Tulum, one of the nicest wedding planners I’ve ever worked with.

We’re off :o)

Have I told you lately how much I looove ….. my job?? :o)

We’ll be shooting a destination wedding in Mexico – Just in time, as my feet are getting really cold (I hate the cold winter months), haha!

So, I’ll be offline for a while (we’re actually taking the opportunity to take a couple of days off too as this will be the last trip before the baby joins our little family). I’ll most likely not have any opportunities to check my email, so please be patient, I’ll respond to any messages once I’m back again, on ~ February 17th :o)

Also, I’ve had quite a couple people that asked me about my India pics. So here’s the link again:

Sweet Details: Cakes & other Dessert Options

You booked your venue, the church, the photographer & DJ is taken care of too, what’s next on your list? I’d say it’s time for some sweet, sweet tastings! :o)

Wedding cakes are part of most weddings and most brides don’t want to miss out on this special moment, but there are other options you might want to consider as well (see below).

5 Popular Wedding Cake Traditions:

Cutting The Cake: Family & friends look forward to the moment the couple joins hands around the cake knife and cuts the first slice of wedding cake. Not only will your guests finally get to taste the gorgeous creation they’ve been eying throughout your reception, it is a classic wedding moment, up there with the first kiss and first dance, that no one wants to miss. Additionally, after the cutting of the wedding cake, your guests know they are free to leave your reception.

Cake Face: Although you may prefer not to have your perfectly made-up face smashed into that first piece of wedding cake, like it or not, it has become somewhat of a tradition. If you don’t look forward to, well, cake on your face, we suggest a little heart-to-heart with your one and only beforehand, to avoid that first marital spat.

Saving The Cake: If well wrapped in plastic, your cake can survive that first year of marriage – a delicious reminder of your special day. Remember to remove all flowers, stems, leaves and other garnish, and make room in the freezer. When your first anniversary rolls around, taste your wedding day all over again.

Lucky Charms: Although the custom of adding gold or silver charms into a beautiful cake is usually reserved for showers, it is a darling tradition. Each charm baked into the cake has a special meaning attached. A different kind of special luck will fall on the guest who receives a charm. Be sure to instruct your guests to pull on the attached ribbon to take the charm out before they bite.

Or how about these beautiful cakes from Delicious Desserts (Cape Cod):

But there are other dessert options you might want to consider. The most common alternative are yummy cupcakes (you can even stack them in such a way, that they look like a wedding cake). But if you’re not into cakes nor cupcakes, amd you still want to offer something sweet many couples decide to do a candy bar.

If you’re interested in doing a candy bar, you have to visit Amy Atlas website & blog, she has such wonderful ideas, and they don’t necessarily break the bank. Get some beautiful jars and fill them with some delicious candy! Or how about Cake Pops, Cotton Candy, Lolli Pops or custom M&Ms? Hmmm, so many options! And while I’m still wishing one of my couples will invite me to their cake tasting, here are some beeeauuuutiful inspirations:

Sweet Details: Boutonnieres

Add an extra bit of style to your groom’s look with a charming & unique boutonniere. Guys aren’t always crazy about pinning a flower to their jackets, but I really love the creations by Dellables and check out the other creative boutonnieres I found while researching for this topic :o)

Btw! Did you know … The wedding tradition of the groom wearing a boutonniere originates in medieval times when a knight wore his lady’s colors (through flowers) as a statement of his love. Flowers and bouquets have long been used in weddings. In addition to adorning the bride with flowers to promote good luck and good health flower meanings allow the bride to express her feelings for the groom. Orange blossoms signify purity, daisies loyalty, violets modesty and red roses signify true love.

Sweet Details: Bridal Shrugs / Jackets / Boleros

Today I thought I’d feature bridal boleros. I think they’re definitely coming back in the bridal fashion industry. They come in allll sorts of colors and styles.

They are a really nice way to ad a little personal touch to your wedding gown. You don’t have to wear it the whole time, you can put it on after the ceremony, or whenever you feel like it, and just imagine what a nice color splash it would be for some of the posed photos :o)

The ones shown below range between $80-180. Love the lacy ones, aren’t they just too pretty for words?? YUM.

Online Wedding Planning Tools

Not too long ago I came across Wedding Mapper and immediately thought I’d have to share this link with you. Well … it’s actually more than a link, it’s a *tool*.

You do need to sign up, but I think it’s a pretty cool website, especially for those couples that like being all organized :o)

Create a seating chart, manage your vendors, create your own, personalized wedding map (show where your wedding venue is / or recommend resturants & hotels to your guests).

It also lets you create a wedding website, though, all MY wedding clients get a custom wedding website from us anyway, which will look 1,000 better (I promise) :o) ++ you won’t have to worry about being spammed all the time / nor spamming all your guests + it’s online for at least 2 years :o) BUT I think including a link to a personalized wedding map would definitely be very cool (you can create somethign very similar using google maps > my maps), so do check out their other tools, *I* think they’re pretty neat:

Sweet Details: Unique Wedding Bands

I’m sure you know aready a lot more about wedding bands than I do, or ever will. My sweet husband & I got married 5 years ago, and I’m sure since then there are like 5000 more styles you can chose from ;o)

The ladies are usually a bit more limited with the wedding band choice since we have to somewhat match the style of our engagement ring, but how about the guys? Or anybody that just wants to have a “simple” design?

Are you tired of the same old, same old? Do you want to ad a little personal touch to your wedding bands? Well … it CAN be as easy as a touch :o)

Jeweler Brent Williams makes handcrafted customized rings for his clients. Here’s how it works: Williams sends you an “impression kit” in the mail. You imprint the entire length of your ring finger (and your fiancés, of course too) and mail it back to him. Williams then makes a wax impression of the mold. Using the ancient art of the lost wax casting process and turns it into gold and silver wedding bands. How romantic!
